Maintenance and conservation of the automatic water information network (SAIH) in the Tagus basin

SAICA Tajo Impulsión

Maintenance and operation of 23 automatic warning stations of the SAICA system covering the geographical area of the Tagus basin.

The purpose of the warning network is the ongoing and real time control of water quality. Data obtained by stations are sent in real time by satellite (VSAT) to the basin control centre, where they are integrated and managed. This system allows for the real time monitoring of main areas of the basin's main discharge areas; it is able to quickly detect discharges and facilitate the localisation of possible causes.

The following parameters are controlled in real time:

  • pH
  • Water temperature
  • Conductivity
  • Dissolved oxygen
  • Turbidity
  • Level
  • Flow
  • Phosphates
  • Ammonium
  • Organic material (COD)
  • Total micro-organisms
  • Ambient temperature
  • Relative humidity
