TRAIECTO – Journey times by wireless acquisition and estimation of traffic conditions for optimization

INNPACTO 2012 Sub-programme

The purpose of this Project is to develop a tool that can estimate traffic status (level of service) by calculating journey times obtained from a dense network of low-cost, easy-to-install “wireless anonymous-address readers”

Traiecto

The purpose of the SICE-coordinated TRAIECTO Project is to develop a tool that can estimate traffic status (level of service) by calculating journey times obtained from a dense network of low-cost LIDAs (wireless anonymous-address readers that are easy to install/deploy.

In summary, the following technological goals have been set:

  • HW/SW development of the LIDA device, with requirements for low cost, low energy consumption, ease of installation and deployment, and compatibility with wireless communications networks.
  • Development of SW algorithms to enable journey times to be calculated from measurements made by the LIDAs, considering different levels of service (traffic-status conditions) and types of road networks (motorways or dual-carriageways, main roads in urban networks, or simple mesh networks of 4 or 5 streets).

Funding

This project has been co-financed by the Ministry of Finance and Competitiveness (MINECO) through:
