TRAIECTO – Journey times by wireless acquisition and estimation of traffic conditions for optimization

The purpose of this Project is to develop a tool that can estimate traffic status (level of service) by calculating journey times obtained from a dense network of low-cost, easy-to-install “wireless anonymous-address readers”

The purpose of the SICE-coordinated TRAIECTO Project is to develop a tool that can estimate traffic status (level of service) by calculating journey times obtained from a dense network of low-cost LIDAs (wireless anonymous-address readers that are easy to install/deploy.

In summary, the following technological goals have been set:

HW/SW development of the LIDA device, with requirements for low cost, low energy consumption, ease of installation and deployment, and compatibility with wireless communications networks.
Development of SW algorithms to enable journey times to be calculated from measurements made by the LIDAs, considering different levels of service (traffic-status conditions) and types of road networks (motorways or dual-carriageways, main roads in urban networks, or simple mesh networks of 4 or 5 streets).
