GESTTOR- Catalog of products for traffic management based on real travel time measures

Convocatoria Retos – Colaboración

The global aim of GESTTOR project is the creation of a catalog of products for traffic management, based on real travel time measurements, capable of optimizing the available information.

Funding:
Project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness under the Programa Estatal de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación Orientada a los Retos de la Sociedad in the framework of the Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica y Técnica y de Innovación 2013-2016

Duration:
2014-2016

Summary and Objectives
The GESTTOR project is based on the use of innovative systems for automatic vehicle identification (AVI) such as video cameras, Bluetooth detection devices, etc. in order to provide advanced information beyond traditional vehicle counting.
Thus, GESTTOR represents an advanced support tool, addressed to Mobility Authorities, Utilities & End Users, in order to occupy prominent positions over competitors, and focused on the optimization of the information provided by new systems.

The main lines of Research and Development included within GESTTOR are:

  1. The creation of a unified methodology for travel time calculation from successive vehicle detections throughout routes equipped with AVI sensors.
  2. The development of robust, accurate and reliable prognosis algorithms for travel time estimation, focused on foreseeing travel time based on similar driver’s measures registered in a specified/specific section and moment.
  3. The development of a methodology for early detection of congestion and incident events in order to support preventive actions, reducing negative impacts on road users.

From these results, a customized catalog of products for traffic management will be finally achieved.
